For instance: In the fall of 2012, Mike's company was moving him to a new office on the other side of town. He immediately took up collections for money and gift cards (more specifically, gift cards for food). When I inquired what it was for, he said it was for a homeless man that he often fed on his lunch break. He just wanted to be assured that this man would be okay for the upcoming winter (the forecast was grim). Mike didn't pause or get choked up over the explanation, it was just a normal thing. I mean, doesn't everyone feed the homeless daily? Really? His ralley was quite successful from what I understand and also included clothes and blankets.
That very winter, on New Years Day, I made a resolution in his honor. I vowed to make a profound difference in someone's life. I'm not sure how well I've done, but I've put forth the effort ever since. When I know without a doubt that I've achieved this goal, I'll be sure to give Mike 100% credit. After all, he made a difference in mine.
